I completed my Bachelor in engineering and Master in philosophy at Zhejiang University, and obtained my PhD in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh. After spending one year as a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven, I returned to Zhejiang University as an Assistant Professor (named ZJU 100 Young Professor in Humanities and Social Science) and is now an Associate Professor of Philosophy. I am also an associate editor of the Asian Journal of Philosophy, a co-founder of the Asian Epistemology Network and a Senior Research Associate at the African Institute for Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, University of Johannesburg.
My research is primarily in epistemology and its intersections with philosophy of mind, decision theory, formal epistemology, and linguistics. My main research project concerns pragmatic encroachment, in particular, defending and developing the view that it is rational for credences to be sensitive to practical considerations such as stakes and urgency. Recently, I am also interested in the topics of philosophical progress and philosophy of AI.
I have taught courses in English on the following topics: academic reading and writing in philosophy; epistemology; formal epistemology; conceptual devices in analytical philosophy.
